I was born September 12, 1972 in Daly City, Ca. the youngest of five.
I sang more than I talked, left home young, always enjoyed music, sharing a smile
and my own unique creativity as a means of empowering others.
I currently live outside Cleveland, OH with roommates and my two cats Jupiter and Neptune.
Kitty Safe started in 1999 while I was in college.
Kitty Safe is a name I came up with when I was hangin' out with my girlfriend at the dorm,
She was talking to me about keeping her son safe on the web who was 4,
and I said, "Sure, and what if your cat is walking across your keyboard?
You gotta make sure your cat is safe on the Internet too."
So, obviously I decided my website would be a kitty safe site, and whammo, Kitty Safe
was stupidly brought into life!
I moved down to San Diego to help my friend Kacy raise her little amazing daughter
when she was 6 months old, and finished college in San Diego at that time.

FAQ (mostly questions by friends on Facebook)
Question: What do you define your music as?
Me: You can listen to a bunch on my website, www.jmberman.com but I would define it as heartfelt autobiographical folk that expresses my poetry, my dreams, and honest understanding of my life in a way that sounds more '70s maybe than any other era of music.
Question: How did you even get those jobs anyways? Just working your way up the chain?
or lucky breaks/etc...i know you are a talented guy, but it can be hard to break into good jobs regardless.
Me: Most of my jobs were not even hiring, I basically all my life have created a position from an idea and just won them over.
That's how I became a sous chef in a french restaurant when I was 16. The luck was in talking to people in positions of power who were adventurous risk takers.

I got really serious about my music once I'd gotten my shit together only about 10 years ago,
have released my first album, I Fall Awake, along with 20 or so bonus songs on the website,
and am working on my second album, 17 Years In A Day.
If you need to contact me for any reason, don't, there's no reason for it.
