There is great depth in the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, the lord of the rings is one of the most rich coming of age stories ever written, showcasing some of the best cast of characters the world of fantasy has ever known, I can't think of a single character from the tales I do not care about, or relate to in some meaningful way, a grand and epic tale, weaving metaphor, social realities with fantasy and spirituality with such complexity and fulness as to be utterly seamless and everpresent, truly a masterpiece, influencing millions for 100 years, and will continue to do so long after I am gone.
